Behind the Screens features hand-drawn floor plans and richly imagined architectural illustrations from television’s most memorable on-screen sets and scenes.
Building off of the technical aspect of the illustrations, the title block for each TV show are contained in a tabular design, inspired by blueprints and the slate of a clapperboard used in filmmaking. Design elements reference architectural drafting—dark blue color palette, hand-drawn lines, and grids.
For the cover design, TV sets and floor plans were chosen for their instant recognizability to pop culture enthusiasts. The purple door from Friends is featured prominently in the large screen, while floor plans from The Simpsons and The Big Bang Theory fill out the smaller screens.
