With colorful artwork throughout, plenty of space for notes, and a handy ribbon marker, this weekly planner features final frames from My Neighbor Totoro, Studio Ghibli’s beautifully animated fantasy film about a family and their local forest spirits.
I was tasked with creating a design for the first My Neighbor Totoro planner in this series, which is now a template used for this annual format. In all of Studio Ghibli’s films, nature is depicted as otherworldly in its power and beauty. Inspired by this appreciation for the natural world, the planner divides the months into four seasons, each color-coded and associated with seasonal spot illustrations: sprouts for spring, mushrooms for summer, acorns for autumn, and soot sprites for winter.
The cover designs for both the 2024 and 2025 planners combine art from final film frames with an unexpected background color, creating a scene that stands out from other My Neighbor Totoro products.
